Te Rotarota Maumahara / Remembering Poem

Te Rotarota Maumahara:

On cold winter days ....

I maumahara ahau ōku matiwae kei roto i te Onepu.
My feet remembers sinking in the sand.

I maumahara ahau ōku waewae i whanawhana i roto te moana.
My legs remember smashing into the water.

My body remembers rolling in the sand.

My arms remember stretching up high into the sky.

My hands remembers picking some shells.

My face remembers how hot the sun is.

My mind remembers to put sun screen on a hot, hot day.

Na Diezel
