Pukana comes to visit Te Whanau Awhina

Kia ora koutou, kei roto i nga wiki e toru kei te ako matou ki nga kemu Maori i te wa o mua.  For the past three weeks we have been learning how to make sting games, practice hand games, stick games and make poi.  This is a part of our topic study for learning about Pre European Games of the past and present.  Here are some samples of our Tuhituhi/writing we have done so far.  

We would also like to mention that we have Whaea Wikitoria a student teacher from Te Puna Wananga Huarahi Maori with us doing her third year practicum of full control for 5 weeks.

Tena koutou katoa,

I tenei ata kei te parakatihi matou te kemu Maori ko Kii Mai.  Tino rawe o tenei kemu na te mea he pai ki te paki, me te paopao me te kanikani hoki.  Tena koe Whaea Wikitoria mo to mahi whakaako i a matou.  Ka wani kee!  This morning we are practising our new game in Maori that Whaea Wiki taught us on Monday.  It's so cool because you learn how to clap to the beat, stamp with your feet and dance to the rhythm of the song.  Awesome Whaea Wiki!

Here we are getting ready to take a slow jog around our school to train up for Cross Country next Friday.

Anei a matou nei mahi i te waa mutunga o te wahanga tuarua mo Matariki.  Kei te tuhi matou o nga  whakaaro matua o ia whetu.  Here are some of the published work we did in Tuhituhi at the end of term 2.  Our kaupapa was Matariki and here we were to describe each sister and what her mahi was.  Later we coloured them and pasted each one into a box then had them displayed behind the stars in the sky. Titiro mai!  Come have a look!
